Covered Bridge Drive
Driving trough small towns of Southern Vermont this drive will take you through several quaint little villages and through two covered bridges with view of 3 more.
Driving south on Route 100 towards a left on Rt. 9 east towards Hogback Mountain with its famous 100 mile view.
As you enter Brattleboro you will view the first covered Bridge the Creamery Bridge, unique for its pedestrian sidewalk separating it from the horse-drawn rides.
At the intersection of 9 and 5 take a left towards Rt. 30 north along the West river up to the Dummerston Bridge there is a good parking lot right at the bridge where one can stop and stretch the legs and take a some pictures.
Over the bridge we go and through Dummerston Center to Rt. 5 where we make a left.
In Putney there is an institution called Curtis BBQ. Here is a guy cooking BBQ in an old blue school bus, this is a famous stop for food enthusiasts.
Continuing on Rt. 5 north alongside the Connecticut River to the intersection of Rt. 121 where we make a right going towards Saxtons River . Here the third bridge can be seen just of Rt. 121.
When you get in the town of Grafton we are going to make another left on Townsend Road towards the Grafton Cheese Company with a tasting room filled with Vermont cheese and other local products and you can observe the cheese makers at their art. This is also where the 4 th bridge resides.
Continuing on southward you will come to the town of Townsend where you will turn right on 30 north towards “ Scott Covered Bridge ” with its historical marker.
Then we are going to make a left on Rt.100 south through Wardsboro.
The Kitzhof Inn is only a few miles South where the hot tub and relaxation awaits.
